About

I live in Milwaukee with my wife and daughter, which is exactly where I want to be.

My days outside of work tend to involve maps, local history, hiking somewhere nobody else is hiking, and whatever I’m currently building or fixing around the property. I’ve developed a real appreciation for slowness — fewer screens, less news, more of the stuff that doesn’t require a charger.

I am, for whatever it’s worth: an INTJ, a Type 3, and a Libra.

The Work
I’ve been at GMR Marketing since 2015 — hired while still in college, which was either a great idea or a chaotic one depending on the week. I started in social media and eventually found my way into strategy, where I’ve spent the better part of a decade building frameworks for how brands can show up authentically in culture.

I’ve won some awards. Spoken at a few conferences. Worked with brands like Target, Comcast, Microsoft, and HP. But the part I’d actually miss if it went away is the people — that’s what makes the craziness worth it.

Yes / No
Yes to: Unusual burgers · Sleeping in · Phone calls · The early days of spring · Cherry Starburst · Picking up sticks · Nathan Fielder · Jon Krakauer · Juice boxes · Lengthy Wikipedia articles · Baseball on the radio · Dan Carlin · Cross-country road trips · Watching films in theaters
No to: Traffic · Clickbait news · Planes · Sharp doorknobs · Unnecessary emails · Wearing socks indoors

This Site
I’ve owned this domain since 2014. The site has changed shape more times than I can count, but the purpose has stayed the same: a small corner of the internet that’s mine to think out loud in.

I love to write and I’m historically bad at publishing. This is my ongoing attempt to fix that.

I update the following pages with some regularity
/projects : things I’m building
/writing : things I’m writing and/or thinking about with intention
/bookmarks : things from elsewhere I’ve collected and want to save

My one design principle: the site has to be fast and easy to edit, or I won’t maintain it. I also like just enough mysterious links that a curious person might find something unexpected.
